Charla first experienced the healing power of Kundalini Yoga and Meditation after participating in three days of White Tantric Yoga at a Winter Solstice event in Lake Wales, Florida at the end of 2014. Charla returned home with a new found awareness and connection of self that she was committed to developing and expanding. She then joined the community of Kundalini Yoga Miami and began 40 consecutive days of Aquarian Sadhana that she completed along with her sister and mother. Practicing two and half hours of Kundalini Yoga and Meditation every morning at 4:00am proved to be exactly the challenge she and her family needed to heal both individually and together as a unit.
Charla remained dedicated to the 4 am practice, and after completing another 40-day challenge and months of service and practice at the studio, she was asked by the owner to be an Aquarian Sadhana leader. At that time, she had not planned to teach yoga, but after leading Aquarian Sadhana for several months, she began teaching Kundalini Power Hour, an hour-long Kundalini Class. Kundalini Yoga Miami became a second home for her and offered a safe place to heal and fully be herself.
After teaching on and off for a couple of years, Charla decided to fully commit to the teaching path. In summer of 2018, she attended Kundalini Research Institute’s Level One teacher training in Espanola, New Mexico.
Charla now leads Aquarian Sadhana and teaches Kundalini Yoga and Meditation as taught by Yogi Bhajan. Charla also teaches Meditation on an online platform where she shares the tools and technology of Kundalini to help people overcome trauma and addiction. Charla has also created an online support group for people suffering from Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder where she shares the teachings of Pete Walker, LMFT through his book C-PTSD: From Surviving to Thriving. She also created and leads a support group for ACA, a 12-step program for adult children who grew up in dysfunctional homes and have been affected by alcoholism and addiction.
Charla is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and has a training diploma from the American Academy of Personal Trainers NYC and has been training for over ten years. Charla’s work as a fitness trainer has contributed immensely to her teaching Yoga by giving her a deep understanding of muscle anatomy and physiology, biomechanics, the importance of proper alignment, and being a space holder for transformation. Charla believes in eating and living clean through a plant-based organic diet and undergoing regular detoxes and cleanses that she believes are a great compliment to the practices of Kundalini and are of huge importance for overall health of the mind, body, and soul.
The past five years of dedicated practice of kundalini Yoga and Meditation, and her own personal work in therapy throughout her life have helped her to realize her truth and her mission. Moving forward, Charla intends on incorporating her background in health and fitness, her experience in trauma and 12-step recovery work, Kundalini Yoga and Meditation, and psychology to create a multi-dimensional therapeutic approach in her future career as a board-certified psychotherapist.
